Objectives

The primary objective of road signs is to enhance road safety and ensure efficient traffic flow by providing clear, consistent, and universally understood information to road users. This includes regulating traffic, warning of potential hazards, guiding drivers to their destinations, and offering general information that improves the driving experience. By achieving this objective, road signs contribute to reducing accidents, minimizing traffic congestion, and promoting safe and orderly travel on all roadways.

Projects

OR Tambo Project

RAM Projects Department does not have projects of its own but operates within SANRAL projects to ensure that the SANRAL network is of required standard.

Under OR Tambo SANRAL HAVE STARTED WITH A ROAD SIGNS PROJECT FOR THE ROUTINE ROAD SIGNS ERECTION ON SANRAL ROUTES WITHIN OR TAMBO DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY IN THE EASTERN CAPE PROVINCE.

The project is aimed at ensuring the compliancy of road signs within the SANRAL network and the development and empowerment of locals i.e., targeted enterprises and targeted labours through trainings and skills development programs structured at ensuring skills transfer between experienced contractors and protégé companies and ensuring the participation of the community in the mainstream economy through job created opportunities.

The scope covers:

    • + Assessment and Design of road signs

    • + Replacement and erection of road signs

    • + Periodic maintenance of road signs (cleaning and small fixing)

    • + Manufacturing of road signs

    Sarah Baartman Project

    Under Sarah Baartman district municipality SANRAL HAVE STARTED WITH A ROAD SIGNS PROJECT FOR THE ROUTINE ROAD SIGNS ERECTION ON SANRAL ROUTES WITHIN Sarah Baartman DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY IN THE EASTERN CAPE PROVINCE.

    Types of Road Signs







    Regulatory Signs

    Regulatory signs are essential for enforcing traffic laws and maintaining order on the roads. They include:

    • Stop Signs: Instruct drivers to come to a complete stop at intersections.
    • Yield Signs: Indicate that drivers must give right of way to other vehicles.
    • Speed Limit Signs: Inform drivers of the maximum or minimum speed allowed.

    Warning Signs
